Advent Drabble #2 - The Strange Christmas Party Attendant
The challenge:
Remus/The Doctor (I chose the 10th doctor)
Prompt: tap dancing
3 words: cheese, glass, hair
max word count 550
Remus kept staring at the odd man with the amazing hair. There was something about that guy that Remus found fascinating, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. The pin striped suit stood out amongst the way too many black robes at the party. He looked so out of place, but at the same time like he didn't care.
The man was walking around the room as if he was looking for something. Finally Remus pulled himself together and decided to go and talk to the man.
The man was on all fours under a table filled with cheese and drinks.
"Hello there," said Remus, making the strange man jump and bump his head on the table.
"Ouch, who put that there?" The man rubbed his head and came out from under the table.
"Can I help you with anything?" Remus asked and helped the man up.
"Thank you, good sir," said the man and brushed the dust of his knees. He looked around. "Well, I'm looking for a red-headed girl. Have you seen her?"
"Red-headed girl?" Remus looked around the venue, and could see three of them. He pointed at one.
"No, no, no," said the man. "I'm looking for Donna."
"And you thought she was under the table?" Remus asked confused.
"No, but I saw some mice tap dancing earlier and I wondered where they disappeared to." The man kept looking everywhere and Remus started to laugh.
"I guess someone vanished them after they were done with the entertainment."
"Why?" asked the man.
"Why?" said Remus. "Why would you want tap dancing mice hanging around at a Christmas party with this much cheese?"
"Who wouldn't have tap dancing mice?" asked the man. "Tap dancing is amazing! All those clicking noises at the same time. It's incredible! Maybe I should talk Donna into some tap dancing lessons when I find her."
Remus rolled his eyes and took a large sip of his glass of wine. This man was a complete nutter.
"Did you say vanish?" the man asked suddenly.
"Yes. Why?"
"How can someone vanish something just like that?"
"With a spell of course," Remus said.
"A spell?" the man said confused.
"Oh," said Remus. "Muggle," he whispered to himself.
"What's a Muggle? I've never heard of Muggles before. What planet are Muggles from?"
"Planet? What are you talking about? Who are you?" Remus was as confused as the strange man now.
"I'm the Doctor."
"Doctor who?"
"We should find Donna," the man said determinedly. "Can you help me?"
"I guess," said Remus.
"Allons-y. Let's go find Donna. Maybe she's already back at the TARDIS ."
"The what?"
"Keep up, Muggle!" the man said and walked briskly through the room with Remus at his heels.
"I'm not a Muggle!" Remus called after him.
"Then can you tap dance? There's just not enough tap dancing at this party."
